Car Insurance Ford (Car Insurance). Why does my amp shut off during the summer when it is physically hot in my car?Why does my amp shut off during the summer when it is physically hot in my car? I have a pioneer 800 watt amp pushing a JL audio w3. the amp is probably about 8 years old. it runs perfect during the winter but in the summer it shuts down? why is this! i run it on full gain i know i shouldnt do that but it runs fine on full gain other times. its in the back of my grand cherokee not under my seat or in a trunk. Please help. You inadvertantly answered you own question already with the words "i run it on full gain". The only reason the amp is probably working in the winter is because the cold weather must be keeping the amp from overheating. Even still, the SOLE PURPOSE of the gain is to level match the preout voltage coming from the head unit. YOu need an o-scope or even a DMM to set it right, and it usually never comes to half or more on gain. Anything over that sweet spot doesn't get you more power, it actually ruins the amp over time. Excessive gains lead to clipped square wave distortion, and an excessive amount of wasted heat that will quickly lessen the amps lifespan. Full gain is probably the worst thing you can do to an amp, and more gain DOES NOT mean more power, it actually changes AC power to DC and will almost surely ruin the amp or sub in a short amount of time. I wouldn't be surprised if its already ruined internally, but if it isn't, google 'setting amp gains' and do it right. After that, if it isn't 'loud' enough, its time for a new amp. By the way, most Pioneer amps that say '800 watts' on them, roughly put out about 360 watts of true RMS power. If your sub(s) handle more than that, its time for a new amp. I think that you have melted a component on the inside. If you are good at that sort of stuff, take it apart and check. That's why I did and I had wrecked a whole circuit. Crank the AC!! I had the same problem in winter when my amp got cold. Auto parts : Portable Radio Acura 1995 . Powder Coating Gun Alfa Romeo 1996 . Power Inverter Audi 1997 . Power Outlet BMW 1998 . Ford . How to Replace Hyundai Brake RotorsWhether they've warped or rust pitted, or you've just been told by your local mechanic that the rotors on your Hyundai need to be replaced, you do not have to accept the expensive labor charges on their estimate. If you're mechanically inclined and have some tools around the garage or tool shed, you should consider saving some money and taking on the job yourself. The brake rotors are affordable enough, but what makes them expensive on the repair estimate is the hourly rate you're being charged for labor. Set a little time aside for the first time you do this, but once you do it, your time will increase and you'll become more efficient at it. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Jack stand Wheel chock Turkey baster DOT approved brake fluid (specified for your Hyundai) 1/2-inch drive breaking bar 1/2-inch drive socket set 1/2-inch drive ratchet 1/2-inch drive adjustable torque wrench (recommended) Flat edge screwdriver Impact screwdriver with a Phillips head bit (on most applications) Hammer Bungee cord C-clamp Brake clean spray Shop rag(s) Silicone brake lubricant Step by Step : 1 Park the Hyundai on a level paved or concrete surface. Apply the parking brake and release the hood latch. 2 Place the wheel chock behind one of the rear tires. If you're replacing rear rotors, then place the chock in front of one of the front tires. 3 Open the hood and extract at least half of the brake fluid from the master cylinder using the turkey baster to suck it out. Dispose of the old fluid properly and do not reuse it. Replace the cap of the master cylinder. 4 Break the lug nuts loose on the left tire first using the breaking bar and a socket. Do not over-loosen them and do not remove them. 5 Lift the left side of the vehicle up and place the jack stand in a safe and secure position to support the weight of the vehicle. The frame rail is recommended if applicable. 6 Remove the lug nuts and wheel. 7 Remove the caliper bolts (2) located in the inside of the caliper using the ratchet and a socket. Gently pry the caliper off of the rotor using the flathead screwdriver and wrap the bungee cord around the caliper to hang it from the frame or coil spring. Compress the piston of the caliper all the way in using the C-clamp. 8 Remove the pads from the caliper anchor, gently prying them off with the screwdriver. If you're not replacing the pads, be sure to take note how you're removing them. It is recommended to replace them in the same position they were originally in. 9 Remove the caliper anchor bolts (2) located on the backside of the knuckle using the ratchet and socket. Step by Step : 10 Remove the two front rotor retainer screws (if applicable) located on the hub of the rotor using the impact screwdriver with a Phillips head bit and a hammer. Tap the end of the impact screwdriver in the reverse position with the hammer to break the screws free. Step by Step : 11 Remove the rotor. If the rotor is stuck to the hub, strike it with the hammer on the rear fins to separate it from the hub. Step by Step : 12 Clean the new replacement rotor with brake clean spray. Spray on both sides and be generous with the spray. New rotors have a rust preventative coating on them and will damage the brake pads if it is not cleaned off properly. Step by Step : 13 Replace the new rotor onto the hub being sure to line up the retainer screw holes to the hub. Replace the retainer screws and tighten. Step by Step : 14 Replace the caliper anchor and bolts and tighten thoroughly. Step by Step : 15 Replace the pads. It is recommended to apply a light coat of silicone brake lubricant to the contact points of the anchor where the backing plates of the pads will be touching. Step by Step : 16 Replace the caliper and caliper bolts and tighten. Step by Step : 17 Replace the wheel and lug nuts. Tighten as much as you can with the wheel elevated. Step by Step : 18 Lower the Hyundai to the ground and re-tighten the lug nuts in an alternate pattern using the adjustable torque wrench (set to 80 foot pounds) and a socket. Step by Step : 19 Repeat these procedures for the right side of the Hyundai. 20 Pump the foot brake pedal until it feels normal when you're done with the brakes and the Hyundai is back on the ground. This restores hydraulic pressure back to the compressed caliper pistons. Do not forget or overlook this step. 21 Check and adjust the brake fluid level in the master cylinder only after the foot brake pedal has been pumped. Add only clean, new DOT approved brake fluid for your Hyundai. 22 Remove the wheel chock, release the parking brake, and test drive.
Ford . How to Replace a Neon Brake RotorLike so many of the new cars of today, the Dodge and or Plymouth Neon have what is coined as "knock-off" brake rotors. This includes models that have rear disk brakes. Removing the rotors or replacing the brakes does not have to occur down at the local repair station where the hourly rate can easily be 1/3 of your wages in a week. Why not dust off a few tools in the garage, wait for a pleasant sunny day off, and replace the rotors on your Neon yourself? Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Jack stand Wheel chock Turkey baster DOT approved brake fluid 1/2 inch drive breaking bar 1/2 inch drive ratchet 1/2 inch drive socket set 1/2 inch drive adjustable torque wrench (recommended) Flathead screw driver Dikes Bungee cord Hammer Brake clean spray Shop rag(s) C-clamp Step by Step : 1 Park the Neon on a flat, level paved or concrete surface. Apply the parking brake unless you're replacing rear rotors. Release the hood latch. 2 Open the hood and using the turkey baster, suck half of the fluid from the master cylinder and discard properly. Replace the master cylinder cap. 3 Place a wheel chock behind one rear tire if you're removing the front rotors or in front of one front tire if you're removing the rear rotors. 4 Crack the lug nuts loose of one of the tires you're replacing the rotor on by using the breaking bar and a socket. Do not remove the lug nuts and do not loosen them too much. 5 Lift the Neon quarter with floor jack and insert the jack stand in a safe and secure place (preferably the frame rail) and allow the Neon to rest on the jack stand. 6 Remove the lug nuts and wheel. 7 Remove the caliper bolts (2) using the ratchet and a socket. 8 Pry the caliper off the rotor with the screwdriver and hang the caliper to the frame or coil spring out of the way with the bungee cord. Do not allow the caliper to hang from the brake hose. 9 Remove the pads from the caliper anchor taking note their position. Place them back into the anchor the same way they were removed. Remove the caliper anchor bolts (2) with the ratchet and socket and then remove the anchor. Step by Step : 10 Remove the retaining rings on the lug studs threaded onto two of the lug studs. These retaining rings simply hold the rotor flush to the hub during assembly of the vehicle and are not needed to replace the brakes. Cut them off with a pair of dikes. If they are not present, skip this step. Step by Step : 11 Remove the rotor. In the event the rotor is stuck/rusted to the hub, strike it with the hammer on the fins of the rotor to convince it loose. Step by Step : 12 Spray the new rotor with brake clean. Spray liberally and on both sides of the rotor to clean off the rust preventative coating on them. Wipe the rotor dry with a shop rag. Step by Step : 13 Place the rotor onto the hub. Replace the anchor and tighten the anchor bolts. Replace the pads. If it helps, thread on a lug nut to hold the rotor flush to the hub, much like the retaining ring did. Step by Step : 14 Compress the caliper piston with the C-clamp. Place the caliper over the pads and rotor and replace the caliper pins and tighten them. If you placed a lug nut on the rotor to hold it to the hub, remove it now. Step by Step : 15 Replace the wheel and lug nuts. Tighten the lug nuts as tight as you can get them with the ratchet and socket while the wheel is elevated, then lower the Neon and re-tighten the lug nuts (preferably with an adjustable torque wrench set at 100 foot pounds) in an alternate fashion. Step by Step : 16 Repeat this procedure for the other side. Step by Step : 17 Pump the foot brake pedal of the Neon when you're done replacing the rotors. This will restore hydraulic pressure back to the compressed calipers. Do not skip or forget this step. Step by Step : 18 Check and adjust the brake fluid level in the master cylinder. Add only new DOT approved brake fluid for your Neon. Step by Step : 19 Remove the wheel chock. Release the parking brake (if it was applied), and test drive. *Figure 7-1: Governor A diesel engine. Fuel injection pump Here's a step-by-step view of what happens when you start up a diesel-powered vehicle. The details may vary from one car to another, but the action remains pretty much the same. (It might be fun to compare this description with the short overview of how conventional engines work in Chapter 4.) 1. When you first turn the key in the ignition, you're asked to wait until the engine builds up enough heat in the cylinders for satisfactory starting. (Most vehicles have a little light that says, "Wait," but a sultry computer voice may do the same job on some vehicles.) When you turn the key, the glow plugs kick in and begin to warm up the air in the cylinders. (See Figure 7-2.) Usually, you don't have to wait long — probably no more than half a minute in moderate weather. Developments in glow plugs have dramatically reduced starting time. 136 345

When you see this light, you step on the accelerator and turn the ignition key to "Start." 3. Fuel pumps deliver the fuel from the fuel tank to the engine. On its way, the fuel passes through a couple of fuel filters (see Figure 7-3) that clean it before it can get to — and clog up — the fuel injector nozzles (see Figure 7-4). Proper maintenance of these filters is especially important in diesels, because fuel contamination can clog up the tiny holes in the injector nozzles. 4. Ford . Culture and forest insects in malawi?
Mercedes-Benz 600SEL. * The fuel injection pump is truly the heart of the diesel engine. (See Figure 7-5.) It sends fuel to a series of mini-pumps called fuel transfer pumps, each of which is responsible for delivering fuel at a pressure of over 1,000 psi (pounds per square inch) to one of the fuel injector nozzles. The fuel injection pump's brain is the governor (refer to Figure 7-5), which has a very important job: It controls the exact amount of fuel that's sent from each mini-pump to the nozzles and makes sure that the engine doesn't go so fast that it damages itself with excessive heat and pressure. Some governors are built right into the injection pump; others work off the crankshaft or the pump's timing gear; still others measure the speed of the air coming into the engine. All governors are affected by the pressure of your foot on the accelerator, the temperature in the cylinders, the altitude, the speed of the vehicle, and the load that the vehicle is carrying. At this point, the action moves to the cylinders, where the fuel, air, and "fire" meet. While the preceding steps have been taking place to get the fuel where it needs to go, another process has been running simultaneously to get the air where it needs to be for the final, fiery "power play." 5.
